The late Azah Aziz was celebrated with a Google Doodle on what would have been her 94th birthday. She was one of the pioneering women journalists in Malaysia and a Malaysian cultural icon remembered for her lifelong work towards the preservation of Malay culture, textiles and traditional attire for generations to come. Given her legacy, she was named Tokoh Budayawan Melayu or figure of Malay culture.
We celebrated this Doodle and amplified it through our local blog site, Googlegram for the press, curated an exclusive YouTube Shorts series featuring Tan Sri Dr Zeti Aziz and amplified it on the official Google Malaysia Twitter page through a series of tweets.
Under embargo preview of the Doodle with local mediaÂ
We hosted a preview of the Azah Aziz Doodle on August 16 at the Google Malaysia office which was attended by the family estate and Guest of Honor, Tan Sri Dr. Zeti Aziz, daughter of Azah Aziz, and members of the media. More than just a preview, we also had the pleasure to hear from Tan Sri Zeti who shared intimate stories about her mother and their amazing memories together. A video was put together to highlight the Doodle. It was especially timely as Malaysia celebrates its national independence day throughout August, and this tied in nicely with the patriotic stories in our local media.

YouTube Shorts series
Her daughter shares personal moments of her late mother in this YouTube Shorts series broken down to four parts and published on the Google Malaysia YouTube channel.
Googlegram and blog post
We issued a Googlegram media alert which landed positive hits in news, business, lifestyle and technology media across broadcast, print, and online mediums.
We posted a blog post on the Google Malaysia blog site sheds light on the late Azah Aziz’s background and accomplishments, and includes notable quotes from her two grandsons and close acquaintances who reflected on her life and the legacy that she left behind.
The story also trended on Google with +500K searches on Azah Aziz.
