Google Doodles celebrates Kamn Ismail's 67th Birthday

Google Doodles honored the late Kamn Ismail, a leading figure in Malaysian animation who pioneered the use of computer technology and digital applications in animation during the 90’s. Here's how we celebrated the moment:

Under embargo preview of the Doodle with local media 

We hosted a media preview of the Kamn Ismail Doodle on February 7 at the Google Malaysia office which was attended by the family estate and our partners. We also organized a fireside chat with the partners – Muhamad Firdaus Omar, Son-In-Law & CEO, Quest Animation Sdn. Bhd.; Cartoonist Ujang; and Ts. Marzuki Abdullah, Lecturer, Faculty of Animation & Multimedia, ASWARA – who shared intimate stories about Kamn and their amazing memories together. A video was put together to highlight the Doodle.

His family and friends shared their recollection of Kamn Ismail in this YouTube Shorts series and published on the Google Malaysia YouTube channel.

Googlegram and blog post

We put out a press release which landed positive hits in news, business, lifestyle and technology media across broadcast, print, and online mediums. We also put up a blog post on Google Malaysia's local blog which sheds light on the late Kamn Ismail’s background and accomplishments, and includes notable quotes from his daughter who reflected on his life and the legacy that he left behind.

The moment also went trending on Google with +1M searches for 'Kamn Ismail', while on Twitter, ‘Kamn Ismail’ and ‘keluang man’ made it into the top trending terms in Malaysia for the day.
